Last week was a good week. Made all my workouts, did all my runs, and the proof is in the pudding.
This week will be my last double-digit run before the Marine Corps Marathon. Wednesday will be the longest of my weekly short runs (a nice five mile jaunt to NAS Gate 1) before I gradually start to dial the mileage down. This will also be the last week that I push myself in the weight room; tomorrow will be the last four cycle circuit course I do, and I will pretty much keep the weights as they are for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays will be the pre-run light workout.
After next Sunday, it will be all about maintenance and staying in shape and healthy for the MCM. I will still stretch and cool down for my runs, but it will be in accordance with the shorter distances I will be running.
I am in a good place with my marathon training, considering that I basically took last year off. I did the six month “beginner” program for marathon training because of that and because I was so out of shape. Maybe next year I can move up to the six month intermediate program?
26 more days…man, time has really flown this year. Good thing about training in the morning: you get all the hard stuff out of the way before dawn.
Song of the Day: Ennio Morricone’s “Ecstasy of the Gold (Remix)”. Unlike country music, some things can be made better with a hip-hop backbeat.
