I am typing this blog under the influence of two tall cans of Guinness Draught, two wet chicken tacos and two shrimp tacos with mange salsa, so this will be kind of quick…
Today I spent part of the late morning helping fill sandbags for a friend who was doing flood prep work. I went out in polo shirt and khakis expecting to just pick up bags, and ended up shoveling about thirty-five to forty bags…in said polo and khakis. I sweated thru my shirt but my pants didn’t get dirty. Oh, well…jus’ helping’ a brother out, ya know?
Anyways, I went over his house expecting to help lay out the sandbags. He promised me (and delivered) the aforementioned home-cooked meal, but I was expecting to work, so I brought a change of clothes (tee-shirt and jeans). WE didn’t move any more sandbags, but we did chow down and watched Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, lots of good conversation about cooking seafood, 80s movies (“Goonies Never Die!!!”) and the current merits of the Marvel movie mega-franchise.
Oh, and just before dinner was served, I finally locked down accommodations for Marine Corps Marathon weekend. Not gonna be cheap ($435/night, not counting tax), so maybe I can find some roommates for the weekend?
Today was a pretty good day…and I did get some exercise in…sort of.
Song of the Day: Guardians of the Galaxy has one of the best soundtracks out there, but it’s close to taps, so I’ll have to settle for “Come and Get Your Love”/Redbone as the track that introduces Chris Platt’s character to the audience.
