Part of the reason why I am running the Marine Corps Marathon is due to an old Marine friend named Jeff Caldwell. About two years ago, he participated in a program called Couch to 5K. He has since taken up running nearly on a daily basis, has participated in several half marathons, and started up a Facebook running group called Broken Trojans Running Club. Running has been good for his body as well as his soul; it has not only helped him lose over a hundred pounds, but it has helped him get through some pretty rough times.
I want to take this blog entry today to give a shout out to Jeff, as he runs a nine mile Sunset run today to honor his late father. Jeff, I just want to say thank you for the inspiration and setting the example, Marine Corps style. Today, run swift and strong, and with your head held high…your father’s legacy lives on in you.
